The youngest son suddenly called me, who was at the office. At first, I thought he would ask to buy lunch from online delivery. Turns out he has a headache and a slight fever. It was raining that morning and causing traffic jams everywhere. As a result, the school bus that took him was stuck in traffic. So he was a bit wet walking to school to avoid arriving late.
When I came home from work, his fever was getting higher. Doctor Moer’s absence is still not replaced by us. However, inevitably have to find another doctor as a substitute. After waiting a long time at one of the clinics, we were surprised because my son turned out to be positive for covid. This result has a chain effect on all other family members. So I have to go back to work from home.
With my wife getting worried, she also took time off. And my eldest son had to move to another room. So, for the second time, we are practicing this evacuation because my wife is the first family member who was positive for Covid last year.
The next day, my laptop started acting up and showing a blue screen repeatedly. Finally, I gave up and handed the computer to the service center. Actually, the laptop battery is also getting weak. A replacement unit has been purchased and just needs to be installed. This means that later on, I can just install the laptop battery. Hopefully, everything will be smooth next week.
However, expectations are sometimes different from reality. For example, the battery that has been purchased is not compatible with the laptop. The laptop screen also shows deterioration and won’t last much longer. The only consolation is that the computer is now reusable. And the laptop battery can still be exchanged.
What remains is a feeling of resentment. This weekend is not going as planned, from positive children to busted laptops. But two events seem to awaken me. First, on my way to work, I saw an accident involving an elderly woman with a motorcycle who wanted to avoid a car in the opposite direction and had to plunge onto the sidewalk. Several motorcyclists and the traffic police at the location immediately came to help. While on the way back home, I again witnessed a collision between a pickup truck and a sedan. Two accidents in a row in one day made me realize that the frustration I felt was not worth those two accidents. And that bitterness slowly disappeared from my mind.
Moral: When we are in our comfort zone, we will always try to stay there. Obstacles are always there and can make us realize that we should be more grateful for the little things that already exist.
